Rare Antique Victorian Sea Shell Encrusted Sailor's Valentine Pin Cushion with Bird & Flowers "Amy" Sewing Accessory

Here is a very rare antique Victorian sewing accessory-a sea shell encrusted red velvet pin cushion painted with a swallow bird and daisies and the woman's name "Amy". These unique and whimsical trinkets are a unique form of folk art referred to commonly as "Sailor's Valentine's" as they were often purchased by sailor's as mementos from foreign ports as gifts for their sweethearts at home. Measuring approximately 5" wide by 3" tall this pin cushion is in good used vintage condition appropriate to it's age. I am also listing a companion piece which was obtained at the same time which is a beautiful hand mirror which would lovely displayed together on a dressing or sewing table.
